On March 2023, I saw Zygaena’s caterpillars feeding on Erophaca baetica ssp. orientalis, but I could not identify the species because the caterpillar looked different from the one I read about. Getting to the place was a little difficult. It is on the Syrian border with Hatay, 50 km away from my house. This year I went there again at the same time of the year and saw the caterpillars again, all I had to do was take a few caterpillars home with me to watch the adults as they emerged from the pupae. The caterpillars turned into pupae on March 25, and today, April 11, I couldn’t go out to work, there was something worth sitting at home and watching, they emerged from the pupae, and finally i can know the specie, it must be Crepuscular Burnet.
Zygaena carniolica, Zygaenidae
Very beautiful and an excellent result!
Good to see you posting after such a long time, here’s hoping for a good butterfly season.

Your photos are beautiful. How amazing that you were able to watch the transformation and find out to what species the caterpillar belonged.
